ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
- How do we get to hold
a State Tournament in our District?
ALL the youth leagues in the District MUST
individual register
ALL teams with NM ASA. This includes t-ball
as well as machine/
Coach pitch.

a league?
There are several reasons.
- To show your
support to ASA if you’re wanting to host a Championship
Tournament.

eligible to become pick-up players for teams
Advancing.
- To make sure ALL
coaches involved with the youth have background
Checks.

NM ASA received additional berth based on number of teams and
participation.

to

Jump teams and are in the correct age
division.

and NOT the adults?
At this time it is not cost efficient.
- Why the big push to
have Field Liability for our cities?
There are several reasons:

- As an Umpire how do I
get to call Championship Play?
There are several criteria that must be met.

capabilities to call at the Championship Play level.
- Why should I register
if I only want to call league play?
The main answer to this question is so that
you will be covered by insurance in case of getting hit or hurt on the
field. The second reason is so if you
An association behind you in case there is
violence towards an umpire.
- As a league if we
register with NM ASA do we have to follow all the playing
Rules?
NO. Because a lot of the leagues are not very
big. Each city must adjust
Their league play to best fit their
situations. NM ASA does strongly
Suggest you stay as close as feasible to ASA
playing rules as possible so
That when teams do advance they are prepared.
An example is Time Limits.
Most cities/leagues require time limits to get
the number of season games
Into the schedule. When you are ASA and
working with a tournament that
Is not the case.
